| I figure it's about time I updated this thing, considering I haven't touched it throughout the entire summer. Of course, there hasn't been much need, has there? The people I've always kept xanga up for are the people I've spent my whole vacation with. And what a vacation it's been. I pause now to recall the girls' night, the Renaissance Festival, the Pirate Parties, and all the crazy little antics in between. Knowing that next summer, and any after that, will never be the same as this one, makes the memories forged this summer all the more precious. I've never been so reluctant to see a summer break end, no matter how excited I am for the coming two semesters at school. It has been all too sweet.
Funny, you'd think that the longer you have to do this--saying goodbye to hometown friends at the end of summer--the easier it would get. For me, it's just the opposite. Because each summer I realize is another year closer to when we may not all come back to the same place at the end of school. I had hoped we would have one more summer, at least, but from the looks of it, this will not be the case. I find that easier to accept, however, knowing that we've still got a year before next summer, with many a break in between; not to mention a guaranteed reunion whenever Belinda decides to get married, what with us being bridesmaids and all (and Will as the priest, of course).
I fully plan on resuming my xanga during the coming school year, however infrequently, because I realize that as nice in theory as it is to say that we'll keep up via phone or AIM, I recognize that that is pretty idealistic, considering people's varying schedules and all. I enjoy xanga, if only because it allows me to catch up on what's going on in a friend's life, even if I haven't had the opportunity to speak to them in a long time.
So guys, here's to you, to our summer together, to our schoolyear apart, and to whenever we next sit down together, playing Disney trivia or just holding wrestle-mania in someone's basement. Either way, we'll probably all end up naked. | | |

| Charles Schultz Philosophy
The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip. You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just read the message straight through, and you'll get the point.
1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America. 4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winner for best actor and actress.
6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.
How did you do?
The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.
Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:
1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.
Easier?
The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care.

| Last weekend, Bre, Jen, Belinda, Will, Kate, and I tore it up in Canada.
What does this mean?
It means...Hellbound has gone international!

| Hey there everyone!
I figured an update was in order. Aren't you excited?
I'm home for Christmas break and wondering how the heck anyone could ever stand to go home if it weren't for friends. Not that I have any problem with seeing my family whatsoever, but with Danni at school and Mom at work, I'm usually left home alone all day, every day. I've recently been hanging out with Will, Jen, Bre, Belinda, Brendan, Brian, and occasionally Krys or Meg doing what we do best: spending time with each other. We've all been at a bit of a loss on what exactly to do, being that we're all sick of Java, but whether or not we find a way to really shake things up, we're still a lot happier in each other's company. A few times, we've stopped to marvel at how people can lose track of high school friends so easily, but then we begin to realize that we weren't exactly normal in high school. Heck, we're not even normal now!
Anyway, aside from trips to the mall, hanging out at someone's house, ice skating (which we need to do again real soon), and the like, we've found a new way to keep ourselves entertained...at least for this weekend. On Friday, some of us are going to head northward to Canada, America's Hat. It should be a fantastic time, making forts out of the hotel room, clubbing, and, in my case, watching my friends get a might tipsy--I'm the DD :)
So, here's to what is sure to be a weekend to remember, and to keeping ourselves entertained until then!
